Sam's Ride 2010
A legend returns! Opt-ins met at Rockies 8-ish.
Kate and Al joined us. Left Rockies about 9:15 am. with Sam in the lead. Travelled up Blacks Creek, stopped briefly at Bonneville Point to regroup then on to Mayfield. Sam gave a brief history lecture on Mayfield, its origins, prosperity and decline while those in need made documentation for their site collection. Group stopped at Canyon Creek Station for brief photo-ops and appreciation of a lush oasis in the midst of Idaho desert. Off again to Toll Gate on the pavement to the turn-off to Castle Rock for more photo ops and more site documentation. Lunch/butt break was in Pine and the large group broke into smaller groups depending on their riding skills and scenery preferences. Sam led the group that followed the shore of Anderson Ranch Reservoir past the dam and along the South Fork of the Boise River. Back up on the canyon rim they rode past Prairie and stopped at the "Y" for drinks/munchies and petrol for those in need. Another group rode Camp Creek Road to Fall Creek Road then on to Meadow Creek Road, Prairie and the "Y" where they were joined by Sam's group. Sam led a group northwest over Slide Gulch to the Middle fork of the Boise River which would take them along the edge of Arrowrock Reservoir and back to Boise while others made the trip southwest following the South Fork and then on to the Blacks Creek Road and back to town.
